Silver Lake

Silver Lake is a residential and commercial neighborhood in the central region of Los Angeles built around a reservoir composed of two basins. The lower named Silver Lake in 1906 for Water Board Commissioner Herman Silver and the upper named Ivanhoe after the 1819 Sir Walter Scott novel Ivanhoe. In 1989, the Silver Lake and Ivanhoe reservoir was designated Historic-Cultural Monument No. 422.
